About the Course
This 3 CE course provides mental health providers with an in-depth understanding of the insurance credentialing process, emphasizing ethical considerations and implications for practice. Attendees will explore the intersection of credentialing with professional ethics, focusing on how participation in insurance networks impacts access to care, client stability, and professional obligations.
The course will cover the requirements for commercial insurance and Medicare credentialing, including the essential provider data systems (e.g., CAQH, NPPES, CMS PECOS), necessary documentation (e.g., NPI numbers, EINs), and key ethical practices for navigating insurance panels responsibly.

Maureen Kane, MA, LMHC, LCPC
Maureen is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in private practice in Bellingham, WA, specializing in stress, anxiety, life transitions, illness, caregiving, trauma, and career issues. She is a Washington State-approved supervisor, offering supervision and guidance to associates who aspire to establish their own private practices. An EMDRIA-certified EMDR therapist and approved EMDR consultant, Maureen brings a wealth of expertise to her clinical work. She is also the author of A Guide Back to You: A Workbook for Exploring Who You Are and Staying True to Yourself, a therapeutic resource for personal exploration and self-authenticity. Before becoming a therapist, Maureen held roles as a director and manager within social service agencies and corporations, focusing on literacy, healthcare access, aging, homeless youth, and disability services.
