Advocating for Ethical, Accessible, and Sustainable Mental Health Care

Mental illness has become one of the leading burdens of disease in the United States, yet as clinicians we are being held back by profit-driven models, unchecked insurance monopolies, and reimbursement practices that seem designed to fail those who need care the most.

The National Alliance of Mental Health Providers (NAMHP) is taking a stand. We have identified three urgent advocacy priorities to tackle these systemic issues head-on:

  1. the growing dominance of vertically integrated insurance companies

  2. the wave of commercialization in mental health care fueled by venture capital-backed platforms

  3. the desperate need for robust oversight of insurance reimbursement policies.

These challenges undermine our independence as MH providers, limit access to critical treatments for our clients, and push the focus away from client-centered, evidence-based care toward a model that prioritizes volume and profit over healing and humanity.

NAMHP refuses to accept this status quo—and we invite you to join us in the fight to reclaim humanized mental health care.
